Creative Expression in the Heart of SOMA
Creative Expression in the Heart of SoMa: TODCO Group Hosts Community Painting Workshop at 6M Community Arts
At TODCO Group, we believe that affordable housing is more than just a place to live—it’s a foundation for thriving communities. That spirit came to life recently during a vibrant expressive arts painting workshop at our new 6M Community Arts gallery, located on Sixth Street in San Francisco’s SoMa neighborhood. Facilitated by Kerim Harmanci, TODCO’s 6M Community Arts Manager, and Meredith Snow, TODCO Group Activity Program Coordinator/Art Therapist, the workshop welcomed residents and neighbors for an afternoon of creativity, connection, and community-building.
The gallery, part of TODCO’s ongoing investment in cultural enrichment and neighborhood vitality, was filled with color and conversation as participants explored painting as a tool for self-expression. For many attendees, it was their first experience working with acrylics on canvas. Guided by Kerim and Meredith, the room quickly transformed into a welcoming, supportive space where people of all ages could relax, express themselves, and engage in a shared creative journey.
As an affordable housing nonprofit, TODCO understands that housing stability and community arts go hand in hand. Events like these not only offer a creative outlet but also foster deeper relationships among residents, creating a stronger, more connected neighborhood. This is the mission behind the 6M Community Arts initiative—to give voice and visibility to the artistic talents and stories of the SoMa community, right in the heart of Sixth Street.
The 6M Community Arts gallery is more than just a venue—it’s a symbol of TODCO’s belief that public spaces can inspire and heal. Whether it’s a painting workshop, a youth mural project, or an exhibit showcasing local talent, each event reflects our ongoing commitment to inclusive, community-led arts programming that makes SoMa a more vibrant and equitable place for all.
