
Job Announcement: Social Worker
TODCO is the community-based nonprofit housing/community development corporation for San Francisco's South of Market Neighborhood. The TODCO Group of companies develops new and rehabilitated affordable housing, performs asset management of its properties, and engages in extensive community participation and special projects in collaboration with other community organizations and professional firms. TODCO provides extensive resident services and programs to our low-income, senior, adult, frail and/or disabled and ethnically diverse residents through our Resident Services/Activities Program (RSAP). The TODCO Group presently operates six South of Market residences, with two more under construction. The TODCO Groups summary mission statement is: South of Market Neighborhood Builders.
Position Title: Social Worker 1
Sites: As Assigned
Work Schedule: Part/Full-time, five days a week (M-F), exempt position
Salary: FY 03-04 annual salary range $37,000 - $41,000 DOE/Q

Supervision: Reports to the Social Services Program Supervisor
REQUIREMENTS:
- BSW with minimum three to five years direct experience
- Experience working with seniors and adults, frail/disabled populations which includes case management/service coordination and crisis intervention
- Ability to work and interact with a diverse (physical and cultural) population within a multi-cultural, multi-lingual setting
- Knowledge of San Francisco and senior/adult resources
- Knowledge of geriatric psychology, disabilities, medical conditions and other senior issues
- Familiarity/Knowledge of Assisted Living and Supportive Housing Program concepts
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records, charting system and assist with program development
- Ability to oversee, monitor, train assistant social service staff and volunteers as assigned
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; be flexible
- Computer proficiency
- Bilingual in English/Cantonese helpful
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Social Services Coordination for low-income senior housing, including:
Provide case management and/or social service coordination for elderly, adult, frail/disabled residents including crisis intervention, assessments, client advocacy; Maintain client documentation and records; Develop Individual Client Plans, working with client, family, building staff, program and community resources to implement plan
Maintain contact with primary health care providers and residents when temporarily transferred to health care facilities and assist in discharge planning
Serve as a liaison/advocate with outside social and health agencies; Provide current information & referral regarding services and community resources to residents and staff through the helping process of case management, newsletters, residents' meetings/programs, staff meetings, in-services and the like
Provide short-term and long-term counseling, individual and group work; Assist residents as needed in meeting lease provisions and house rules requirements, with referrals for money management, accessing resources, etc.
Work with staff to facilitate positive community relations, to provide guidance and conflict resolution for residents who have issues with their neighbors, building and/or for problem residents
Maintain statistics, documentation and other program records
Work with Social Workers and RSAP Team to further develop, expand and implement the RSAP Social Services Program, Senior Companion Program, Social Work Internship Program and other special programs/projects; Assist with interns/volunteers as needed
Train, monitor and oversee social services assistant staff and Senior Companion volunteers in implementing quality social services assistance as assigned
Coordinate implementation of RSAP social services with site administrators, RSAP staff, and the Yerba Buena/South of Market social service agencies
Participate in and attend meetings and training as assigned;
Assist with Agency/Department programs/events, administrative, special projects and other duties as assigned
